SAN JOSE, California (March 24, 2016) — A multi-vehicle crash involving several vehicles and a big rig truck was reported Thursday morning on the northbound Interstate 280 Freeway at the Lawrence Expressway off ramp, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The 9:21 a.m. crash was blocking the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 lanes. A silver Honda sedan suffered major rear-end damage when the car was hit by one of the other three vehicles. The circumstances are under investigation by police to determine liability.
The city of San Jose has seen an uptick in serious crashes over the past year. There were 59 deaths in traffic accidents in 2015 making it the worst year in two decades for fatal crashes. In fact, San Jose’s fatal crashes outnumber homicide deaths by two to one.
“San Jose drivers need to be especially careful as they share the road with careless motorists and take steps to ensure they do not become a statistic,” said Attorney James Johnson.
