Man Seriously Injured in San Jose Hit-and-Run Crash on East Santa Clara Street
SAN JOSE, CA (September 18, 2021) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash on Santa Clara Street in San Jose.
According to The Mercury News and KRON 4 News, the accident took place early Saturday morning. Officers reported the incident at about 4:14 a.m.
San Jose police said a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason. The driver hit the man in 300 block of East Santa Clara Street.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim left lying on the ground. He sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon rushed the patient to a hospital and listed him in stable condition. Officials did not release the name of the wounded party.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and then fled the area. The San Jose hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced Santa Clara Street to shut down between 7th and 9th streets, and 17th and 19th streets following the collision.
