Melquiades Sandova, 39, Arrested
SAN JOSE, California (June 6, 2016) – A suspected DUI crash on the 280 Freeway killed 59-year-old Randy Dennis and sent his wife Sharon Dennis to a hospital Sunday night, according to San Jose Mercury News.
The collision occurred at 10:06 p.m. on the southbound lanes of the freeway near McLaughlin Avenue.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said Randy Dennis was driving a 2003 Toyota Tundra south on the 280 Freeway when he was struck by a 2003 BMW M3 driven by 36-year-old San Jose resident Melquiades Sandoval.
The Toyota then swerved to the right, slammed into a guardrail and rolled over multiple times.
Randy Dennis was ejected from the car and onto the roadway. He died at the scene.
His 59-year-old wife, Sharon Dennis, was taken to Regional Medical Center of San Jose with minor injuries. Both are from San Jose.
Meanwhile, CHP said Sandoval was driving at a high rate of speed at the time of the incident. He was was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and causing bodily injuries, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
