Two-Vehicle Crash on Northbound U.S. 101 Sends One Person to Hospital
SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 1, 2026) -— One person was taken to a hospital following a two-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near the Yerba Buena Road off-ramp in San Jose, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported on July 1st at approximately 5:13 a.m. and involved a white van and an SUV. Initial reports indicated the collision was blocking the No. 1 lane of the northbound freeway.
CHP officers responded to the scene and later determined the crash involved minor injuries. Dispatch records show one person was transported to a hospital for treatment, while another individual remained at the scene and reported feeling safe.
A white van sustained extensive damage, and a blue Toyota Prius also suffered major front-end damage, prompting requests for tow trucks to remove the disabled vehicles from the roadway.
Traffic was temporarily impacted as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and reopen the affected lane.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and no additional information about the injured person has been released.
