Car Overturned in Accident in San Juan Capistrano
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (July 24, 2024) — A multi-vehicle car accident happened Tuesday night on the Interstate 5 Freeway, just north of State Route 74 in San Juan Capistrano, California.
The traffic accident occurred on the southbound I-5 at around 7:52 PM on Tuesday July 23rd 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A black Honda Accord, black Subaru SUV, Ford Explorer, white Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and a white Volkswagen Beetle are were involved in a traffic accident on the Interstate 5. Also, the CHP reported the black Honda was overturned on its roof.
The cause for the accident may have been due to a driver in a black sedan that was allegedly speeding in and out of traffic lanes. There are multiple vehicles in the center divide of the highway in addition to many cars in the lanes. Four to five of the lanes were blocked for thirty minutes, bringing traffic to a stop.
Paramedics responded and located those with injuries and transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment of unknown injuries at this time. Tow trucks were also needed on the scene to not only remove the overturned Honda but to remove the other damaged vehicles from the scene.
Investigators are working to determine who is at fault for the accident in San Juan Capistrano on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
