San Leandro Crash on the I-880 Freeway, Washington Avenue
Minor Injury Collision on Interstate 880 Freeway in San Leandro
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (March 25, 2025) — At least one person was injured Tuesday in a crash on the I-880 Freeway in San Leandro, just west of Washington Avenue.
The two-vehicle collision occurred in the middle lanes around 10:42 a.m. on March 25th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch log.
CHP officials reported the driver of a grey Toyota RAV4 SUV was possibly rear-ended by a white Kia Forte sedan in the southbound lanes, just north of the I-238 Freeway.
The SUV driver reported exited their vehicle, but then got back into it and awaited police and paramedics.
Upon the arrival of paramedics, one person stated they had a possible neck injury and the other person appeared to be okay, the report said.
An ambulance responded to the scene, however, it’s unknown if anyone was hospitalized.
Tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the roadway including the Kia with moderate front-end damage. Investigators will determine fault for the collision.
