SAN LEANDRO: Major Crash Interstate 580 Freeway, Dutton Ave
A Series of Collisions on the I-580 Freeway
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (Feb. 11, 2025) — A five-vehicle crash on the eastbound Interstate 580 Freeway happened Tuesday morning, just west of Dutton Avenue in San Leandro.
The collision is one of four separate traffic accidents that began at 5:31 a.m. on Feb. 11th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The initial collision involved two vehicles, but other vehicles began to collide in a series of accidents resulting in one five-vehicle crash with major injuries, a two-vehicle crash, and two solo collisions including one car damaged from debris.
The CHP issued a SigAlert due to the collisions.
The Oakland Fire Department responded and located a woman who was stuck in her vehicle. Also, at least one person had major injuries and was taken to a hospital. The report did not mention how many were injured following the pileup.
Tow trucks removed a damaged Nissan Rogue SUV, a gold Lexus sedan, a Toyota Sienna minivan with rear-end damage,
Investigators are working to determine fault for the collisions.
