Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in San Leandro Crash on Interstate 880 Near Lewelling
SAN LEANDRO, CA (March 31, 2022) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on the Interstate 880 near Lewelling Boulevard in San Leandro.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place on Thursday evening. Officers reported the wreck at about 6:27 p.m.
CHP said the motorcycle rider and a car collided in San Leandro for an unknown reason. The two crashed on the southbound Interstate 880, just north of Lewelling Boulevard.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the motorcyclist who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the wounded party to a hospital for treatment. The report did not release the name of the patient and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP mentioned they located the driver of a silver 2000 Volkswagen Golf stopped on the right hand shoulder following the wreck.
Officers forced the southbound lanes of the Interstate 880 to shut down near Lewelling after the incident. The cause of the San Leandro crash is still under investigation.
