Man, 76, Killed in Collision Near Las Pilitas Road Tuesday
San Luis Obispo, CA (November 23, 2021) – A 76-year-old man died following a traffic crash that occurred on Pozo Road Tuesday evening.
According to The Tribune, two trucks collided in the area east of Las Pilitas Road. Preliminary investigation revealed the 76-year-old Santa Margarita man was behind the wheel of a GMC Sierra pickup truck heading west on Pozo Road. At about the same time, a semi truck was making a U-turn on the same road. Officials believed the driver of the GMC did not see the trailer blocking the traffic lanes. As a result, the GMC slammed into the rear of the trailer.
The catastrophic incident took place at approximately 5:45 p.m.

When medical personnel arrived at the location, they found the GMC driver unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but they sadly succumbed to their injuries and died. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Investigators continue to work to determine the precise cause of the fatal traffic accident on Pozo Road in San Luis Obispo.
