Man, 63, Killed in San Luis Obispo Crash on Tank Farm Road
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (July 30, 2022) – A DUI crash along Tank Farm Road killed one person in San Luis Obispo.
According to The Tribune and KSBY News, the tragic accident took place on Saturday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 8:14 a.m.
The incident happened when a 2012 Chevrolet was going east on Tank Farm Road in San Luis Obispo. At the same time, a 2003 Volkswagen was traveling west.
The California Highway Patrol said the Chevrolet then crossed the opposing lane of traffic. In the process, the car slammed into the Volkswagen west of Santa Fe Road.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the 63-year-old man driving the Volkswagen dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Chevrolet sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed him to the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP determined that the motorist who caused the wreck was under the influence of drugs.
They soon arrested him on suspicion of DUI. Officers forced a stretch of Tank Farm Road to shut down for a time following the incident.
The fatal San Luis Obispo crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at 805-594-8700.
