2 Seriously Hurt, 1 Sustains Minor Injuries
SAN LUIS OBISPO, California (August 3, 2016) – A major injury collision occurred on Los Osos Valley Road Wednesday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch team.
The crash took place shortly after at 2:30 p.m., just west of West Foothill Boulevard.
In an article by KSBY, CHP said a gray Ford Fusion and a white Chevy van were going west on Los Osos Valley Road at around 50 mph when a red Chevy Blazer traveling east veered into the westbound lane.
The Blazer which was being driven by Mason Smith, a resident of Arroyo Grande, then sideswiped the Fusion driven by and collided head-on with the van.
As per KSBY, the drivers of the van and the Blazer were extricated from their respective vehicles and were both seriously injured.
Per the Cal Coast News, Mason Smith and a second motorist identified as Douglas MacDonald, of Los Osos, were rushed to Sierra Vista Medical Center before being transferred to Stanford University Hospital.
It was confirmed that the driver of the Ford Fusion escaped serious injury and was hurt only to a minor degree.
Authorities will continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
