Motorcyclist Killed in San Marcos Crash at Mulberry Drive and Borden Road
SAN MARCOS, CA (January 24, 2022) – A motorcyclist was killed after a crash at Mulberry Drive and Borden Road in San Marcos.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the tragic accident took place late Monday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 11 a.m.
The incident happened when a 62-year-old man was riding a motorcycle west on Borden Road, approaching Mulberry Drive, in San Marcos.
At the same time, a Chevrolet Colorado pickup was going north on Mulberry. The sheriff’s department said for an unknown reason, the two collided in the intersection.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
The rider ended up ejected from the bike upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found him down on the ground.
The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed him to the Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he died.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, deputies affirmed that the 31-year-old man driving the truck did not sustain any wound in the wreck.
Officers forced the area of Mulberry and Borden to shut down for hours following the incident. The cause of the fatal San Marcos crash is still under investigation.
