2 Seriously Injured in San Marcos Hit-and-Run Crash at Las Posas and La Mirada
SAN MARCOS, CA (September 3, 2021) – At least two were seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash at Las Posas Road and La Mirada Drive in San Marcos.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News, the accident took place early Friday. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 2:30 a.m.
The incident began when a white 2003 Acura was crossing the intersection of Las Posas Road from eastbound La Mirada Drive in San Marcos.
At the same time, a silver Chevy sedan was going north on Las Posas. In the process, the Chevy broadsided the Acura in the intersection.
Driver Hits Another Car, Flees on Foot
The Sheriff’s Department said the two crashed near the Grand Plaza Shopping Center. The Chevy caught fire while the Acura went off the road upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found two people hurt. The victims, an adult female passenger and a juvenile, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon took them to the Palomar Medical Center for treatment. Officials did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, deputies affirmed that the driver of the Chevy abandoned the car and fled on foot. Officers forced the area of Las Posas and La Mirada to shut down following the wreck.
