The collision involving two vehicles took place about 8:40 a.m.
As per the article, the sheriff’s department said a 21-year-old man was driving a Toyota 4Runner south when he lost control of his car and crossed the center median.
The Toyota then went airborne after hitting a Honda Accord headed north. The 4Runner overturned on its roof in the bicycle lane, slid and jumped a cur .
The SUV struck an electrical box before coming to a stop on the sidewalk.
Deputies affirmed the drover of the Honda, a 58-year-old woman, was transported to a trauma center with major injuries. The victim, whose name has not been yet released, was listed in serious condition.
Meanwhile, the SUV driver sustained minor injuries was believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol at the time. The investigation is ongoing.
