Man, 86, Seriously Injured in San Marcos Hit-and-Run on Rancho Santa Fe Road
SAN MARCOS, CA (January 6, 2022) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash on Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos.
According to the ABC 10 News and NBC San Diego, the accident took place on Wednesday morning. Officers reported the collision on January 5 at around 7 a.m.
The incident began when an 86-year-old man was crossing eastbound Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos. At the same time, a vehicle was going north.
For an unknown reason, the driver then struck the pedestrian. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said the crash happened in the 500 block of the road near Rue De Valle.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim down on the ground. He sustained a serious head injury as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment. The reports did not disclose the name of the wounded party and his condition at this time.
Meanwhile, deputies affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid and fled northbound on Rancho Santa Fe. They described the car as a 2010 to 2013 black extended-cab Chevrolet 1500.
The pickup truck obtained damage to its passenger-side mirror after hitting the man. The cause of the San Marcos hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
