1 Killed in San Mateo County Crash Near Highway 1 and Stage Road
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA (June 25, 2022) – A car crash killed at least one person near Highway 1 and Stage Road in San Mateo County.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 4:20 p.m.
CHP said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in the San Gregorio community of San Mateo County. They crashed on Highway 1 near the intersection with Stage Road.
2 Cars Collide
The incident log described the cars as a gray Nissan and a Subaru. The Subaru went off the road while the Nissan obtained major front damage upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They confirmed that one individual died as as a result of the collision.
The name of the deceased victim has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. CHP did not mention if any other party ended up hurt following the wreck.
Meanwhile, officers forced Highway 1 to shut down in both directions at Stage Road for two hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal San Mateo County crash is still under investigation.
