Multi-Vehicle San Mateo Crash on Highway 101 (Bayshore Freeway)
SAN MATEO, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2022) — A 3-vehicle San Mateo crash on the southbound Highway 101 happened Monday morning near the Poplar Avenue off ramp.
The collision occurred on Bayshore Freeway about 5:43 a.m. on Oct. 3rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a black Volkswagen sedan, a white Ford F-150 pickup truck and a black Nissan Maxima collided on the freeway.
Someone reported the crash to 911 operators and told them a black sedan was allegedly driving recklessly prior to the collision. The vehicles blocked the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes following the collision. Meanwhile, at least one person had complaints of pain after the San Mateo collision.
Tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles including the Nissan with major front-end damage.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
