SAN MATEO, California (April 19, 2016) — A driver in a pickup truck, who stopped to avoid hitting a mother duck and her six ducklings, was rear-ended by a taxi Tuesday morning at the Edgewater Boulevard off ramp to the eastbound 92 Freeway, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The driver of the large white Dodge pickup truck reportedly stopped to allow the ducks to cross the roadway and a blue and yellow Toyota Prius taxi crashed into the back of the truck. The report states the taxi was allegedly speeding prior to the crash and hit the pickup “fairly hard.”
The crash resulted in major injuries and paramedics responded to the scene to help the injured. Police are investigating the crash and will determine liability. A SigAlert was issued due to heavy traffic and vehicles trying to drive around the vehicles.
