Passenger Killed in Fiery Car Crash on 80 Freeway Saturday
San Pablo, CA (May 22, 2021) – A passenger died, and the driver suffered injuries following a car accident on Interstate 80 Freeway Saturday morning.
The CBS San Francisco reported an SUV with two occupants was traveling along the freeway at approximately 12:30 a.m. In the area under San Pablo Dam Road, a small animal reportedly crossed the roadway. Preliminary investigators revealed the driver made a sudden turning movement in an attempt to avoid the raccoon. For this reason, the Ford Expedition slammed against a freeway wall causing the vehicle to ignite fire.
When rescue teams arrived at the site, they found the SUV completely engulfed in flames.
Our sources confirmed the passenger was unable to get out of the wreckage. Responding medical personnel later sadly pronounced the passenger dead.

Meanwhile, the driver apparently managed to self-extricate with only minor injuries.
Authorities continue to withhold the names of both the deceased, and the injured driver pending confirmation.
Further investigation of the deadly car accident in San Pablo is ongoing.
