1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in San Pablo Crash on Interstate 80
SAN PABLO, CA (January 9, 2022) – A crash killed one person and seriously injured two others on the Interstate 80 in San Pablo.
According to the East Bay Times and KRON 4 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 6:15 a.m.
The incident began when a transit van spun out of control for an unknown reason on the eastbound Interstate 80 in San Pablo. The van struck the center divider and came to a stop in the wrong direction.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
The California Highway Patrol said three more cars approached and then collided with the van. The vehicles crashed near the San Pablo Dam Road exit.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived and pronounced a man in his mid-20s dead at the scene. Two other people ended up suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed them to a hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 80 to shut down for a time following the wreck. The cause of the fatal San Pablo crash is still under investigation.
