SAN PEDRO, California (April 8, 2016) — A wooden rocking chair may have set off a crash involving at least two drivers Friday morning on the southbound Interstate 110 Freeway at Gaffey Street.
A driver in a blue or green Toyota Corolla struck a maroon pickup truck and then the center divider wall several times before crossing over the wall, possibly trying to avoid the wooden rocking chair that was in the No. 2 and 3 lanes, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 10:42 a.m. between the two vehicles. It appears there were several collisions at this location where there was debris all over the roadway. The woman who was driving the Toyota was reportedly “very upset and crying” and was not able to exit the vehicle, the report said. A big rig truck was also on the right shoulder, but the report did not disclose if it was involved.
Police are heading up an investigation into the crash and will determine liability.
