Transit Van Hits Pedestrian in Fatal Crash on Highway 101
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (March 16, 2022) — A fatal San Rafael pedestrian accident happened Monday morning on Highway 101 involving a transit van.
The traffic accident occurred about 3:43 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 101, just north of Freitas Parkway, according to California Highway Patrol.
Police say a driver in a 2004 transit van struck the pedestrian in the left lane of the highway.
The driver told authorities they were unable to swerve and avoid the crash.
Meanwhile, the motorist stopped the transit van and cooperated with police and the investigation. Sadly, the pedestrian suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner will release the victim’s identity after relatives are notified of the San Rafael pedestrian accident.
Finally, police closed down three lanes of the southbound Highway 101 to investigate.
