Sandra Barber, 55, ID’d as Suspect in Menifee Fatal DUI Crash on Encanto
MENIFEE, CA (December 5, 2021) – Authorities detained Sandra Barber after a fatal DUI crash on Encanto Drive in Menifee.
Police determined that the 57-year-old Riverside woman was under the influence when the collision took place on Saturday.
The incident began when Sandra Barber was driving south on Encanto Drive in Menifee. At the same time, another vehicle was going north.
Police said Sandra Barber veered into the northbound lanes and struck the other car head-on. The two vehicles crashed, north of Rouse Road.
Guillermina Gonzalez, 37, Killed in Wreck
A tire ended up detached from one of the cars involved and hit a third vehicle in the area. The Press Enterprise and My News LA wrote that the accident happened on December 4 at about 6:15 p.m.
The driver of the northbound car died at the scene. The coroner’s office identified the victim as 37-year-old Guillermina Maria Gonzalez, of Perris.
One person sustained major injuries while another suffered minor wounds as a result of the wreck. Paramedics took them to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, police soon arrested Sandra Barber on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI. They booked her into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning in lieu of a $75,000 bail.
The Menifee DUI crash is still under investigation.
