Sandro Mendieta Arrested Fatal North Hills Hit-and-run Motorcycle Crash
Suspect In Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash Charged
NORTH HILLS, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2023) – Sandro Edgardo Mendieta, 30, was arrested Friday on murder charges for a fatal hit-and-run motorcycle crash a day before on Woodley Avenue in North Hills.
The suspect was reportedly attempting to leave the country when the San Fernando Valley man was arrested near the border and booked on suspicion of murder. Authorities reported he was being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
The LAPD and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department had been searching for the suspect since the Nov. 9th collision between his white 1992 BMW and a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The motorcyclist was exiting a private driveway when the BMW struck him at high speed. Both vehicles also collided separately with parked cars. The suspect, later identified as Sandro Mendieta, allegedly exited the car and fled on foot, leaving behind his injured passenger and the fatally injured motorcyclist. The man who died has not been identified.
The collision occurred at around 6:40 p.m. last Thursday in the 8600 block of Woodley Avenue.
The case remains under investigation.
