1 Killed, 2 Injured in Sanger Crash at Highway 180 and Oliver Avenue
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 7, 2021) – A crash killed one person and injured two others at Highway 180 and Oliver Avenue in Sanger.
According to The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News, the tragic accident occurred on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 2:20 p.m.
The incident began when a Ford Escort was going south on Oliver Avenue, approaching Highway 180, near Sanger. For an unknown reason, the Escort went into the path of a vehicle going west on Highway 180.
A white Hyundai Tucson then hit the driver side of the Escort. The California Highway Patrol said after some time, a Ford Econoline van approached and collided with the Hyundai.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
All vehicles ended up on the northwest side of Oliver Avenue, just north of Highway 180. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the man in his 50s driving the Escort dead at the scene.
The occupants of the other two cars sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel took them to a local hospital for treatment.
CHP described at least two wounded victims as the driver of the van, a man in his 30s, and the motorist in the Tucson, a man in his 40s. Officials did not release the names of the deceased and wounded parties.
Meanwhile, officers forced the road to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Sanger crash is still under investigation.
