6 Hospitalized After Tow Truck Driver Crashes into 5 Vehicles
SANTA ANA, Calif. (Feb. 5, 2018) – A tow truck driver fell asleep at the wheel Monday morning causing a 5-vehicle collision at North Flower Street and Washington Avenue, according to the Orange County Register.
The crash took place just before 8 a.m. this morning. Six people including a 7-year-old child were injured in the collision, but all were non-life threatening injuries. The other vehicles involved included a Nissan Quest minivan and three small cars.
The Santa Ana Police Department is heading up the investigation into the collision. It’s unclear whether or not the tow truck driver would be charged with a crime at this time.
Santa Ana Accident Investigation
Whenever a negligent driver causes a crash that involves injuries such as this one, there will be extensive police work to investigate the cause and assign liability. In this case, it appears the tow truck driver caused the crash and he and his company will be held liable for the financial losses suffered by those hurt.
It’s important to note, however, that it’s quite common for insurance companies to try and avoid paying out a claim even when they know their insured is at fault. They may also make an offer to settle for far less than the full amount owed. This is unacceptable.
