1 Killed, 1 Injured in Santa Ana Crash on Southbound 5 Freeway at 17th Street
SANTA ANA, CA (July 31, 2021) – A car crash killed at least one person and injured another on the 5 Freeway in Santa Ana.
According to the CBS Los Angeles and My News LA, the tragic accident took place early Saturday. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:20 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Santa Ana. They crashed on the southbound 5 Freeway at 17th Street.
2 Cars Collide
Officials described the cars involved as a Honda Pilot and possibly a Mitsubishi. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced one individual dead at the scene.
Medical personnel rushed another party to the Orange County Global Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway to shut down for more than one hour following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Santa Ana crash is still under investigation.
