Pedestrian Killed in Santa Ana Crash on State Route 241 at Santiago Canyon
SANTA ANA, CA (March 6, 2022) – A pedestrian hitchhiking along State Route 241 was killed after a crash in Santa Ana.
According to the CBS Los Angeles and My News LA, the tragic accident took place on Sunday night. Officers reported the collision shortly after 9 p.m.
The incident happened when a vehicle struck a female pedestrian hitchhiking in Santa Ana. The driver hit her on the northbound State Route 241 at Santiago Canyon Road.
Woman Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived and found the woman lying on the ground. She sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police did not mention if the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the woman. Officers forced the northbound lanes of State Route 241 to shut down following the incident.
The cause of the fatal Santa Ana pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
