Lameia Harris ID’d as Victim Killed in Crash
SANTA ANA, California (July 10, 2016) – Three pedestrians were struck by a hit-and-run driver in a fatal pedestrian crash early Sunday on Hazard Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The crash took place around 12:20 a.m., just west of Harbor Boulevard.
There are conflicting reports about whether one or all three of the pedestrians were killed as only one is confirmed dead by the coroner.
The three women were apparently standing in a two-way turn lane when they were struck by a dark-colored SUV.
UPDATE: Police say the driver was a Hispanic male and the vehicle was a 2007-2011 dark gray Nissan Armada. The vehicle will likely have significant front-end damage because it struck down three pedestrians.
Lameia Harris, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene. One report indicated the second woman died while being transported while the third allegedly died due to her injuries at the hospital. The Orange County Register reports two of the women were critically injured in the crash and fighting for their lives.
The young women were between the ages of 16 and 20 and lived in Van Nuys, Oakland, and Paramount. Their names are being withheld pending notification of family.
Meanwhile, police said the driver of the SUV did not stop to render aid and continued eastbound on Hazard Avenue.
