Major Injury Collision on Highway 101

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (May 15, 2024) — A major injury car accident in Santa Barbara happened Wednesday night on Highway 101, just north of Mission Street.

The traffic accident, which involved a hit-and-run motorist, occurred at around 7:21 p.m. on May 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Someone called 911 to report a driver weaving in and out of traffic lanes who collided with two other vehicles. The drivers of a white BMW, a white 2022 Volkswagen sedan and a white Nissan Altima or Sentra sedan were involved. CHP officials reported one person was trapped in a vehicle with major injuries. Paramedics responded and rushed the person who was trapped in their car to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Santa Barbara Police Department responded to the crash scene.

Finally, investigators are working to determine fault for the Santa Barbara car accident on Highway 101.
