Cyclist Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run Collision on Highway 154
Santa Barbara County, CA (April 18, 2022) – A 37-year-old bicyclist suffered injuries following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred on Highway 154, the Santa Maria Daily Times News reported.
Our sources indicated a Burlingame man was riding a bike traveling west on SR-154. Preliminary investigation revealed the collision happened when a vehicle veered onto the shoulder of the highway, towards the direction of the Burlingame man. Officials said the motorist struck bicyclist, then hastily fled the scene.
Major Injury Bicycle Accident in Santa Barbara County
Shortly after 7:30 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the location. Responding paramedics found the cyclist with severe injuries. According to the article published online, a ground ambulance transported the victim to the entrance of Cachuma Lake entrance. Subsequently, a CalSTAR airlifted the Burlingame man to Cottage Hospital for treatment. The name of the patient, and their condition at this time remained undisclosed.
Meanwhile, investigators believed the hit-and-run suspect was driving a maroon or burgundy Toyota Scion. The force from the impact possibly caused front-end damage to the vehicle.
