Ontiveros Riding Scooter Collides with Drunk Driver Turning Left
SANTA BARBARA, California (May 17, 2016) – According to Nozzhawk, 31-year-old Daniel David Ontiveros was critically injured after his scooter collided with a drunk driver on the Mesa Monday evening. (map)
The collision took place about 5:40 p.m. on Cliff Drive at Oliver Road.
As per the article, police said Ontiveros, of Santa Barbara, was riding his scooter east on Cliff Drive when he crashed into a westbound pickup truck.
Ontiveros was rushed to the hospital with multiple broken bones and apparent internal injuries
Police affirmed the truck driver, 60-year-old Santa Barbara resident Duncan Airlie Brown, was making a left turn onto Oliver Road when the crash occurred. It was determined that he had a right-of-way violation.
Brown was arrested on felony charges of DUI causing injury and then booked into Santa Barbara County Jail, with bail set at $100,000.
