1 Killed in Collision Near Monte Vista School Sunday
Santa Barbara, CA (October 24, 2021) – A 53-year-old man suffered fatal injuries following a moped crash that occurred on North Hope Avenue.
The Noozhawk News reported a 53-year-old, from Santa Barbara, was riding a moped in the streets of Santa Barbara. Officials said the man was with his friend, also riding a moped, at that time. The two riders collided for an unknown reason when they approached the 900 block of North Hope Avenue. Due to the force from the impact, both rider were ejected and thrown onto the roadway.
Per article published online, the crash took place at about 2 a.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed the two friends appeared unharmed after the incident. Subsequently, they remounted their vehicles and traveled to the house of another friend.
Moped Driver Dies at Home After Crash in Santa Barbara, October 24
Authorities said the 53-year-old man started experiencing chest pains. Given that, the male party decided to go home on Broadmoor Plaza in Santa Barbara. The condition of the victim deteriorated quickly. When medical personnel arrived at his resident, they found the man unconscious. Paramedics later confirmed the man died from injuries, possibly internal, sustained from the moped crash.
Further investigation on the unfortunate event on North Hope Avenue is ongoing.
