Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Santa Barbara Hit-and-Run on West Carrillo Street
SANTA BARBARA, CA (July 7, 2021) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash on West Carrillo Street in Santa Barbara.
According to an article published by the KEYT News, the accident took place last month on June 27. Officers reported the collision around midnight.
The incident happened when a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason. Santa Barbara police said the driver hit the person in the 200 block of West Carrillo Street.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the victim left lying in the middle of the road. The patient sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Victim Hit by Car
Medical personnel rushed the pedestrian to the Cottage Hospital for treatment. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the area. Officers described the car as an early to mid-2000s Toyota pickup truck, either a Tacoma or Tundra.
The impact knocked the front grill of the Toyota emblem loose from the truck. One of the headlights ended up damaged following the accident.
Officers forced a portion of Carrillo Street to shut down after the crash. The Santa Barbara hit-and-run collision is still under investigation.
