Driver Hit by Lost Moving Truck Tire Taken to Hospital
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (Dec. 13, 2024) — A tire fell off a moving truck or van and hit the windshield of another vehicle Friday morning on the northbound side of the Ventura 101 Freeway in Santa Barbara.
The traffic accident occurred at around 10:14 a.m. on Dec. 13th, near West Mission Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a white truck with yellow writing on it lost its left front tire in the southbound lanes of the 101. The tire flew over into northbound traffic where it hit the other motorist’s windshield.
The other vehicle was “totaled” and its driver was transported to a hospital with an arm injury, the report said.
The case remains under investigation.
