SANTA CLARITA, California (June 15, 2017) — Motorcyclist Gary Clement, 68, of Canyon Country was killed Wednesday night in a fatal car crash on the Sierra Highway near Linda Vista Street, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The crash took place about 10:04 p.m. last night. The rider died at the scene after his or her bike collided with a car.
The crash remains under investigation by police to determine liability.
Liability for Motorcycle AccidentsWhen a fatal collision involves a motorcyclist, police will interview all surviving parties involved and try to piece together what happened based on their side of the story, witness accounts and evidence at the scene. However, it’s important to have an independent attorney conduct a secondary investigation into what happened. While criminal charges could be filed in cases for example were drugs and or alcohol involved, a victim or their family must separately make a claim for a civil lawsuit. This would compensate them for financial losses such as medical bills and loss of income.
