Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Santa Clara Crash on Highway 101 Near San Tomas
SANTA CLARA, CA (September 1, 2021) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on Highway 101 in Santa Clara.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Wednesday afternoon. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 2:22 p.m.
CHP determined that the motorcyclist and a red Saturn collided for an unknown reason in Santa Clara. The two crashed on southbound Highway 101, just north of San Tomas Expressway.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the rider hurt in the No. 2 lane of the highway. The patient sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the wounded party to a hospital for treatment. Officials did not disclose the name of the victim and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the driver of the Saturn ended up hurt or if they stopped following the collision. Officers forced the southbound lanes of Highway 101 to shut down after the wreck.
The cause of the Santa Clara crash is still under investigation.
