1 Killed, 1 Injured in Santa Clarita Crash on Soledad Canyon Road
SANTA CLARITA, CA (November 10, 2022) – A car crash killed one person and injured another on Soledad Canyon Road in Santa Clarita.
According to The Signal and Hometown Station, the tragic accident took place early Thursday. Officers reported the wreck at around 12:25 a.m. near the Newhall Community.
The incident happened when a 2019 Toyota 4-Runner was going west on Soledad Canyon Road in Santa Clarita. At the same time, a 2013 Hyundai Tucson was traveling east,
For an unknown reason, the Toyota crossed over the solid double yellow lines into the eastbound lane. The car went directly in the path of the Hyundai.
2 Cars Collide
The California Highway Patrol said in the process, the two collided east of Stonecrest Drive. Firefighters arrived and pronounced the 40-year-old Simi Valley man driving the Tucson dead at the scene.
The driver of the 4Runner, a 49-year-old Los Angeles man, sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed him to the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Soledad Canyon Road to shut down for several hours following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Santa Clarita crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the Newhall Area CHP Office at 661-600-1600.
