3 Killed, 2 Injured in Santa Clarita Crash at San Francisquito Canyon and Riverview
SANTA CLARITA, CA (August 28, 2022) – A crash killed three people and injured two others at San Francisquito Canyon and Riverview roads in Santa Clarita.
According to the ABC 7 News and Hometown Station, the tragic accident took place on Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 4:11 p.m. near Saugus.
The incident happened when a white BMW was going south on San Francisquito Canyon Road, approaching Riverview Road, in Santa Clarita.
At the same time, a blue GMC SUV was traveling north. The BMW left the roadway, went onto the shoulder and then overcorrected.
2 Cars Collide
In the process, the car veered into the path of the GMC. The two crashed head-on in the intersection. The BMW caught fire due to the impact of the collision.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived and pronounced three individuals dead at the scene. Two others sustained critical injuries as a result of the incident.
Medical personnel rushed both patients to the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, officers forced the area of San Francisquito Canyon and Riverview roads to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Santa Clarita crash is still under investigation.
