Bicycle Rider Injured in Santa Cruz Crash on Soquel Drive Near Winkle Avenue
CARMICHAEL, CA (January 13, 2022) – A bicycle rider was hospitalized after a crash on Soquel Drive near Winkle Avenue in Santa Cruz.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Thursday evening. According to their dispatch, officers reported the collision at about 5:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a black Chevrolet Silverado struck the bicycle rider in Santa Cruz. For an unknown reason, the pickup truck hit the bicyclist in the 2500 Soquel Drive near Winkle Avenue.
Bicyclist Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the cyclist who complained of pain. The victim sustained minor to possible moderate injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the patient to the Dominican Hospital for treatment. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP believed that the driver of the car stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the rider. Officers forced the westbound Soquel Drive to shut down following the incident.
The cause of the Santa Cruz bicycle crash is still under investigation.
