Pedestrian Killed in Santa Cruz Crash on Ocean Street Near Soquel Avenue
SANTA CRUZ, CA (January 4, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed after a crash on Ocean Street near Soquel Avenue in Santa Cruz.
According to the SF Gate and KION News, the tragic accident took place on Tuesday evening. Officers reported the collision at about 6:39 p.m.
Santa Cruz police said a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason in the city. The car hit him in the 500 block of Ocean Street near Soquel Avenue.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the man down on the ground. He ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver continued southbound on Ocean after hitting the man. The motorist pulled over a few blocks away and cooperated with the officials.
Officers forced a stretch of Ocean Street to shut down following the incident. The cause of the fatal Santa Cruz pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
