Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Modesto Avenue
SANTA CRUZ (July 21, 2018) – An unidentified woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on Modesto Avenue Friday afternoon, according to Santa Cruz Sentinel.
Preliminary investigation revealed a woman was walking on the south side, the coastal side, of Modesto Avenue at about 3:25 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, she was hit by an Infiniti SUV traveling west on the road.
Pedestrian Killed Friday in Santa Cruz Accident
First responders found the victim lifeless on the ground in the 100 block of Modest Avenue. At this time, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending next of kin notification.
Meanwhile, authorities identified the driver involved as 24-year-old Kelsey Knoll, of Mount Hermon. The woman was detained and will apparently face murder charges in relation to the incident.
Meanwhile, police said they continue to determine whether alcohol, drugs or distracted driving were factors. Further investigation on the case is underway.
