1 Killed in Santa Margarita Crash on Highway 101 Near Santa Barbara Road
SANTA MARGARITA, CA (April 16, 2022) – A crash killed at least one person on Highway 101 near Santa Barbara Road in Santa Margarita.
According to The Tribune and KSBY News, the tragic accident took place on Saturday evening. Officers reported the wreck at around 8 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Santa Margarita. They crashed on northbound Highway 101 just south of Santa Barbara Road.
2 Cars Collide
A CHP dispatch described the cars as a gray Chevy Suburban and a white sedan. The sedan caught fire due to the impact of the collision.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found two people lying on the ground. They confirmed that one individual died as a result of the incident.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, officers forced the northbound lanes of Highway 101 to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Santa Margarita crash is still under investigation.
