1 Seriously Injured in Santa Maria Car Crash on Bonita School Road
SANTA MARIA, CA (August 27, 2021) – At least one was seriously injured after a car crash on Bonita School Road in Santa Maria.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the wreck took place on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the accident at about 2:12 p.m.
The incident began when a car was driving recklessly and traveling at a high rate of speed on Bonita School Road in Santa Maria. The speeding driver then struck another vehicle in the area.
Collision Near River Bridge
CHP described the cars as a silver Ford Fusion and a blue Acura Integra. One of the vehicles involved became fully engulfed in flames upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene, just north of the Santa Maria River Bridge. They found one person who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital for treatment. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP forced both the northbound and southbound lanes of Bonita School Road to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the Santa Maria crash is still under investigation.
