Driver Badly Hurt in Fiery Collision at Old Dominion and Orcutt Garey Road Monday
Santa Maria, CA (October 11, 2021) – At least one person suffered serious injuries following a car crash that occurred in the area of Old Dominion and Orcutt Garey Road.
The Santa Marita Times reported a passenger vehicle collided with an oil tanker truck at the intersection east of Santa Maria. Due to the force from the impact, the truck overturned and slid into a ditch. Officials said the tanker ended up elevated and perpendicular to the road.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the site. First responders found the cab of truck engulfed in flames. Authorities said the fire spread to a nearby grove of eucalyptus trees and grew to about a quarter-acre. Responding firefighters worked extensively to put out the blaze.
