Child on Bicycle Injured in Santa Maria Crash Near Pine and Jones Streets
SANTA MARIA, CA (October 11, 2021) – A child on a bicycle was hospitalized after a crash near Pine and Jones streets in Santa Maria.
According to The Lompoc Record and Noozhawk, the accident took place on Monday morning. Officers reported the collision shortly after 7:30 a.m.
The incident began when a 7-year-old girl riding a small bicycle north on Pine Street was crossing the Jones Street intersection in Santa Maria.
At the same time, a large Ford pickup truck was going east on Jones. Police said for an unknown reason, the car struck the child and her bike.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the young victim hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed her to the Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. The reports did not disclose the condition of the wounded bicyclist.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver of the Ford stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the rider. They forced the intersection of Pine and Jones streets to shut down following the collision.
Officers also located a vehicle illegally parked on the corner which possibly blocked the motorist’s view of the girl crossing the area. The Santa Maria crash is still under investigation.
