Santa Maria Crash on State Route 166/Cuyama Highway

SANTA MARIA, Calif., (July 6, 2026) — A two-vehicle crash occurred early Monday morning on State Route 166, Cuyama Highway near Pine Canyon Road, resulting in injuries.

The incident was reported on July 6th at approximately 5:36 a.m., with the collision taking place in the westbound lanes directly in front of the U.S. Forest Service Pine Canyon Station. Initial reports indicated that a blue Dodge Ram truck collided with a white van and another white truck. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene promptly.

The white van’s occupants reportedly sustained possible shoulder injuries, though the full extent of the injuries remains under investigation. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene. Tow trucks from Smitty’s Towing and Four Corners Towing were requested to clear the vehicles, including the blue Dodge Ram, which had a broken axle on the left side.

The collision’s cause is still under investigation. Authorities have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The CHP is urging anyone who witnessed the accident or has additional information to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
