Man Killed in Santa Maria Hit-and-Run Crash on Black Road Near Mahoney
SANTA MARIA, CA (August 18, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Black Road in Santa Maria.
According to the Noozhawk News and KSBY News, the accident took place late Sunday night. Officers reported the collision on August 15 shortly before 11 p.m.
The incident happened when a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason in the Tanglewood neighborhood. Santa Maria police said the driver hit him on Black Road, south of the Mahoney Road.
Officials determined that the man was walking toward the subdivision after his car apparently experienced mechanical issues.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the victim left lying on the ground. He sustained critical injuries to his chest and back as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to the Marian Regional Medical Center, where he died. His name remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the man and then fled the area. Officers forced a stretch of Black Road in Tanglewood to shut down for a time following the crash.
The fatal Santa Maria hit-and-run incident is still under investigation.
