2 Injured in Santa Maria Head-On Crash on Highway 166 Near Ray Road
SANTA MARIA, CA (October 5, 2021) – Two were injured after a head-on crash on Highway 166 near Ray Road in Santa Maria.
According to the Noozhawk and The Santa Maria Times, the accident took place on Tuesday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 8 a.m.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department said two food trucks collided for an unknown reason west of Santa Maria. They crashed on Highway 166, known as West Main Street, near Ray Road.
One of the trucks ended up in a ditch upon impact. The other vehicle rolled over on the side of the road and came to a stop against a telephone pole.
2 Food Trucks Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and extricated one trapped driver from the wreckage. The victim, a 27-year-old man, sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel took the patient to the Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria for treatment. They treated the other truck operator for the minor injuries they sustained in the incident.
The reports did not release the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time. Officers forced the intersection of Highway 166 and Ray Road to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the Santa Maria crash is still under investigation.
