SANTA MARIA, CA (November 20, 2021) – At least one was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 near Betteravia Road in Santa Maria.

The California Highway Patrol first logged the incident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:53 p.m.

CHP said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Santa Maria. They crashed on the southbound Highway 101, just south of Betteravia Road.

The dispatch described the cars as a silver Toyota Matrix and a black Hellcat. The Hellcat obtained front-end damage due to the impact of the collision.

2 Cars Collide

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found an occupant of the Toyota hurt. The victim sustained unspecified injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel took the patient to a hospital for treatment. The report did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.

Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the Hellcat did not stop to help and then fled the area. The cause of the Santa Maria hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.

Officers forced the southbound side of Highway 101 to shut down for about an hour near Betteravia following the wreck.
